About the Creative

Liana Simmons is a multimedia storyteller and creative based in Pittsburgh, PA. She graduated from Penn State’s Bellisario College of Communications, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Film Production.

While at Penn State, Liana served as the Creative Director for the Movin’ On Festival, leading a team to showcase the festival’s excitement through video, photography, and design. As the Student Managing Director for CommAgency, Liana oversaw operations across multiple departments, including video production, photography, social media, live production, graphic design, and public relations. Additionally, as a Multimedia Intern for the Penn State Marching Blue Band, she created dynamic content that captured the energy of practices, football games, and pep rallies.

Her portfolio includes notable projects such as Finding Elissa Johnson, a short film selected for the Blue and White and Centre Film Festivals, and Lili in Red, which earned the Golden Quill Award for Feature Videography.

Outside of her work behind the camera, Liana expresses her creativity through fashion, seeing it as a powerful form of storytelling. She often draws inspiration from style for her multimedia projects.

Liana is passionate about creating platforms for individuals to share their unique stories and voices. She continually seeks innovative ways to combine her skills in media and storytelling, believing that every creative project—whether a film, photograph, or piece of clothing—has the potential to make a meaningful impact.
